Every child belongs to a family, a community, and a system of care.
A child is never just a placement — they are a son or daughter, a student, a neighbor, a friend. We hold that truth at the center of everything we do, and we know the ecosystem around each child well enough to be a true partner within it.
Why every child matters
The children who come to us are not problems to be solved — they are young people who matter deeply to their families, their schools, their congregations, and their neighborhoods. A child's absence from home is felt in the seat that is empty at the dinner table, the desk that is quiet at school, the pew that is open on Sunday. We never forget that each child here is someone's son, someone's daughter, someone's grandchild, someone's friend — and that their return home whole is the hope an entire community is holding. Our job is not to replace that community, but to strengthen the child who will re-enter it.
How we participate in the ecosystem
Alliance Health & LME/MCOs
We are an in-network provider with Alliance Health and coordinate closely with Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations across the region. We understand the Tailored Plan system, Medicaid eligibility, and the care-coordination pathway.
Departments of Social Services
Many of the children we serve arrive through county DSS placements. We partner with social workers at every step — from initial screening through discharge — sharing documentation, attending court reviews, and keeping the placing agency fully informed.
Local Schools & LEAs
Our education liaison enrolls every child in a community school within days of arrival, attends every IEP meeting, and maintains written agreements with the local education authority.
Outpatient & Medical Providers
We are one chapter in a child's larger care story. We coordinate with existing outpatient therapists, psychiatric providers, primary care physicians, and any specialist already involved — and we hand off cleanly at discharge.
Families & Caregivers
Families are not visitors here — they are partners. We keep parents and guardians at the center of every plan, with visits, calls, and a genuine voice in every decision.
The Wake County Community
Our children are part of this community. They attend local schools, visit local libraries, worship alongside neighbors, and give back through service projects. A child's stay here is not a withdrawal from life — it is a deeper participation in it.
